Creators
Creators are collaborators who can help build, manage, and publish Projects in your ioLoop account.
The Creators section allows authorized account administrators to add Creators, manage their account-wide Publisher privileges, and remove Creators from the account.
Creators are different from the Users and User Groups configured inside a Project. Creators collaborate on developing and managing Projects, while Project users and User Groups control access to the published application.
Creator Access
Creators must be added to your account before they can be granted access to its Projects.
There are two ways to grant Project access to Creators:
- Project-Level Access: Grant a Creator access to specific Projects with permissions appropriate to their role.
- Account-Wide Publisher: Grant a Creator full read, write, and publish access to all Projects in your account, including Projects created in the future.
Project-Level Permissions
Creators can be assigned one of the following access levels for individual Projects:
- Viewer: Read-only access to the Project.
- Contributor: Read and write access to the Project.
- Publisher: Read, write, and publish access to the Project.
These permissions apply only to the Projects for which the Creator has been granted access.
Project-level access is managed through Creator Access Settings on individual Projects in My Projects.
Account-Wide Publisher
A Creator with account-wide Publisher privileges automatically receives read, write, and publish access to:
- Every existing Project in your account.
- Every new Project created in your account in the future.
Account-wide Publishers do not need to be assigned to individual Projects.
These privileges apply to Project access and publishing. They do not, by themselves, grant account administration privileges or access to restricted account information such as billing and the Account Profile.
Add a Creator
To add a Creator to your account:
- Select Add Creator.
- Enter the Creator's ioLoop username.
- The dashboard looks up the username and displays the associated account information, including the username and email address.
- Choose whether to grant account-wide Publisher privileges.
- Confirm to add the Creator.
If account-wide Publisher privileges are enabled, the Creator automatically receives access to all existing and future Projects in your account.
If account-wide Publisher privileges are not enabled, access to individual Projects must be granted through Creator Access Settings in My Projects.
Your subscription determines how many Creators you can add. If you have reached your allowance, adding another Creator may require upgrading your subscription or purchasing an additional Creator license, where supported.
Manage Existing Creators
The Creators list displays the collaborators currently associated with your account.
For each Creator, the dashboard shows:
- Username: The Creator's ioLoop username.
- Email: The email address associated with the Creator's account.
- Publisher: Whether account-wide Publisher privileges are enabled.
Manage Publisher Privileges
You can enable or disable account-wide Publisher privileges for an existing Creator.
- Enable Publisher: Grants read, write, and publish access to all existing and future Projects in your account.
- Disable Publisher: Removes the Creator's account-wide Publisher privileges. Their Project access is then determined by any Project-specific permissions assigned to them.
Individual Project permissions can be managed from My Projects.
Remove a Creator
You can remove a Creator when they no longer require access to your account.
Removing a Creator revokes their Creator access to Projects owned by your account.
If the Creator also collaborates on Projects belonging to other ioLoop accounts, those separate permissions are not affected.
Subscription Limits
Your ioLoop subscription determines how many Creators are included in your account and whether additional Creator licenses are available.
The Creators section displays your current Creator allowance and usage.
If your account has reached its Creator limit, adding another Creator may require:
- Upgrading to a subscription plan with a higher Creator allowance.
- Purchasing an additional Creator license, if available under your plan.
If additional Creators cannot be added under your current subscription, the Add Creator action may be disabled and the dashboard may indicate that an upgrade is required.
For more information, see Billing.
Permissions
Only authorized account administrators can add or remove Creators and manage account-wide Publisher privileges.
Account-wide Publisher privileges do not automatically make a Creator an account administrator.
If you do not have permission to manage Creators, the dashboard may disable the relevant actions.
Contact an account administrator or the primary account holder if you need Creator access or permissions changed.
