Connection Services

Connection services define how a Project authenticates with and uses an external provider, API, credential set, or MCP server. Each service has its own Profile fields, Connection settings, supported commands and methods, and execution contexts.

Use this section together with Connections, which covers the shared creation, editing, cloning, Access, testing, and publishing workflows.

Service Directory

ServiceService IdentifierPrimary Use
API CallapicallConfigure a reusable HTTP request with authentication, headers, parameters, and default data.
API KeyapisecretStore one or more secrets for trusted server-side use.
Constant ContactconstantcontactWork with Constant Contact contacts, lists, campaigns, and reporting through OAuth.
GooglegoogleAuthorize selected Google services including Drive, Sheets, Docs, Calendar, and Gmail.
HubSpothubspotWork with HubSpot CRM contacts and engagements.
MailchimpmailchimpWork with Mailchimp audiences, members, tags, campaigns, and reports.
MCP ServermcpConnect an AI Agent or supported Project logic to a remote Model Context Protocol server.
OpenAIopenaiAuthenticate supported Cloud Flow code with the OpenAI SDK.
SendGridsendgridSend plain-text, HTML, and template-based email.
SlackslackWork with Slack conversations, messages, users, files, and inbound events.
SquaresquareUse Square payment and account APIs with sandbox or production authentication.
StripestripeUse Stripe test and live payment capabilities.

The service identifier selects the Connection implementation for interfaces such as $io.system.connectionCommand(...) and $io.system.connectionMethod(...). It is not always the same as a service name accepted by $io.system.sdkLibraryObjectFromConnection(...); each service guide identifies supported SDK service names separately.

Capability Types

Service pages describe the following capabilities separately:

CapabilityMeaning
Connection service identifierSelects the Connection implementation when a generic command or method interface requires a service name.
Client commandCan be initiated from Page Flow or the Client API and is executed by the server.
Server commandCan be initiated from Cloud Flow or the Server API.
Server methodsAvailable through the service-specific Server API and the Cloud Flow Connection Function Call interface.
SDK objectProvides an authenticated provider SDK or library object to supported Cloud Flow custom code.
AI Agent supportCan be selected for a supported AI Agent Connection capability.
MCP supportCan expose or use MCP tools through supported AI Agent functionality.

These capabilities are independent. Do not assume that a service with a Server API also provides commands, or that a service supported by AI Agents can be called from Page Flow.

Before Selecting a Service

Confirm:

  1. The provider account and environment the Project should use.
  2. Whether the operation belongs in Page Flow or trusted Cloud Flow.
  3. The required provider scopes or permissions.
  4. Whether the Project needs commands, server methods, an SDK object, a Widget, or AI Agent access.

For shared configuration guidance, see Connections.
